Desert Flower staff members have chosen to dedicate themselves to the care and quality of life for our residents. Every day offers a new opportunity to grow closer to our residents, to hear their stories, to meet their families and create an atmosphere of deepening community.
Raised in Arizona, Lauren graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Organizational Communication. She has experience with sales and marketing in the medical industry, specifically physical therapy services. Lauren worked in an assisted living community in Washington state where she was in charge of community relations and marketing. It was there that she found her true passion in helping families through times of transition. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys watching her son play baseball, volunteering at Harvest Compassion Center and anything to do with animals. When asked what she loves most about her position at Desert Flower Senior Living, Lauren's response was, "Coming to work at Desert Flower every day is fun! I thoroughly enjoy visiting with our wonderful residents and their families. It truly is a family atmosphere, and I couldn’t ask for a better work family.”
Shawna comes to Desert Flower with over 23 years of experience in nursing and skilled rehabilitation. When asked what makes Desert Flower special, Shawna replied, "Her co workers and residents." Shawna has been married for 19 years and has five children, ranging in age from kindergarten to college. In her free time, Shawna enjoys sewing, baking and continuing to learn.
Maddalena graduated from Scottsdale Culinary Institute and has seven years’ experience in culinary arts and cake decorating. She has even been an ice cream flavor creator! Before Desert Flower, Maddalena worked in other senior living communities. She is a sports fanatic and loves riding horses, but her passion is cooking. What does she love about Desert Flower? “Seeing the residents smile and enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal.”
Kevin worked at Sun Grove Resort Village and Royal Oaks Senior Living before coming to Desert Flower. He is a US Marine Corps veteran. In his spare time he referees high school basketball games. He gets a kick out of seeing the smile on a resident’s face when he makes their day.
Kelly joins Desert Flower Senior Living with over eleven years of senior living experience. She earned her nursing degree in 2006, administration degree in 2014, and even has an interior design degree! Her favorite part about being the executive director is the team she gets to work with and the residents she gets to care for. "I love to get to know each and every resident at Desert Flower. I visit them at their apartments and really enjoy learning about their lives through the pictures on their walls."
At home, Kelly spends time with her 10-year old daughter and 5-year old son. Her hobbies include gardening, playing guitar, furniture shopping, and of course, utilizing her interior design degree. Stop by and say hi to Kelly. You can often times find Kelly eating lunch with the residents.
Florence started at Desert Flower in 2003, so she has a long history here. She says, “The residents miss me when I’m gone, and I them. I like this place I call home.” She’s not only been the account controller for 16 properties, she’s been a healthcare consultant. With six kids and nine grandchildren, it’s good that Florence loves spending time with family.
Eboni is originally from Detroit, Michigan, moving to Arizona in 2006. Eboni has been in the mental healthcare and criminal field since 2004. She was recently promoted to Desert Flower's memory care coordinator night position. She stated it was an opportunity she simply could not pass up when asked about the promotion. "I love Desert Flower's environment, residents and staff. I love the teamwork that the community has."
Eboni holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is currently working towards her master’s degree in healthcare management, slated to finish next year with just four classes left. We are so proud of her!
Eboni is the eldest of four children with two sisters and one brother. She is very proud that all of her sibilings have also graduated from college, as it is a unique aspect about her family. In her spare time, Eboni enjoys reading, shopping, bowling, watching movies, and traveling.
Darion graduated from Arizona State University, is a Phoenix native, and has been with the Desert Flower community for just over a year. His favorite part of being Desert Flower's CRD is being able to share the special moments of accomplishment with the residents.
Darion says he knew senior living was his passion from a very young age. "I had a passion for supporting families through the various challenges life may bring."
In his spare time, Darion enjoys coaching youth basketball through a program called Reach, golfing and a good comedian. He's also the proud father of two boys.
Stephanie comes to Desert Flower with over 13 years of experience working with individuals with special needs. She is a licensed LPN and also CPR certified. As an LPN, Stephanie's biggest priority is supporting her health care team and residents in any way possible. "It's a blessing to know that I make a difference in my resident's lives."
Outside of Desert Flower Senior Living, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her two grown children, ages 16 and 21, and husband, to whom she's been married to for over 18 years. She loves movies, bowling, and living in Arizona.
